How the Body Positivity Movement Can Be Negative

You’d think considering the work that I do, I’d be all for the Body Positivity Movement, but I actually believe that it could negatively impact your health. The whole concept of body positivity is one that could be keeping you stuck, unhealthy, and at a standstill when it comes to becoming your highest self.

Basically, I broke down the top 3 reasons why the Body Positivity Movement can negatively impact your health:
 
#1. Positivity won’t bring change.  
 
In order to change anything in our lives, we need to be honest with where we’re at. I hated my body for the longest time. Still, I followed the Body Positivity Movement on social media to try to learn to love myself, but it never worked. I had no idea how to actually love my body. Why? Because just thinking “good” thoughts won’t enact real transformation.
 

 
#2. Be honest with where you are at.
 
It’s OKAY if you hate your body. For now, accept where you are at, and then set the intention to learn to love your body. When you can start from a place of honesty, you can eventually move toward transformation. You can’t change if you’re in denial and lying to yourself on the daily.
 
#3. Are you in denial?
 
Are you just using the Body Positivity Movement as a way to not change? I celebrate weight diversity and love when people feel good in their bodies. But if you’re just pretending to love your body, you’re just going to keep feeling stuck and unhappy. Instead, figure out what it is that you want, and then ask yourself: “what is the belief that I need to create for what I want to become a reality?”
 

And here’s my ninja strategy to help you learn to accept where you’re at so you can reach true transformation:
 
Get curious.
 
Get curious about everything when it comes to yourself. You are a creator and can literally create anything. But you are also a destroyer, and you get to destroy the things that are not working for you – like any identity that doesn’t feel good. Get curious so that you can figure out what you need to create now to have the reality that is truly in alignment with the highest version of yourself.
