Why I Love Meditation & A Morning Routine

One of the questions I get asked most is how I finally ended my battle with food and my body. Two of the biggest game changers for me were meditation and creating a morning routine.

When I started my journey to recovery, I was so disconnected from my body, because I hated it. Food was my coping mechanism for life, my drug of choice. When I started meditating and allowed myself the space for silence and stillness, I slowly began to rebuild trust in myself and my body. I began to learn the difference between physical hunger cues and emotional hunger cues, which was HUGE.

Alongside meditation, implementing a morning routine meant that I had more time to quiet the noise of life and allow myself the space to commune with my body and soul. The more I did this, the less I turned to food to numb out.

Meditation allows you the space and time to commune with your soul, which means you’re able to live in alignment with your highest self. It also helps you connect to your body, which means you can easily learn how to decipher between physical hunger cues vs. emotional hunger cues. Meditation nurtures your connection to self, so that you will be able to make good, daily decisions around food and body from a place of self-love.

A morning routine helps you create the space and time in your daily schedule, so that you get an epic and daily dose of “me time” to light you up from the inside out. It will also help you build up personal accountability and self-trust, so that you become better and keeping your word to yourself and achieving the goals you set. Another reason I love having a morning routine is because it provides structure, so that you can prioritize the activities and practices that fuel your soul and body the most.

Bottom line: meditation and a morning routine are literal magic and need to be part of your daily practice 😉
